Volume contains a collection of notices, memorias, registers, orations, and copies of letters sent by the papacy and cardinals ; a copy of Benedict XIV's encyclical "Ad omnes," published in 1751, which was printed in Lisbon ; and an ecclesiastical history of Europe that pays especial attention to various schisms. Volume two contains a discourse on the legal history of the missions to the Americas ; a response to Jayme de Mello, Duke of Cadaval, regarding the precedence of Gabriel, Duke of Aveiro ; a collection of warnings, decisions, and representations of the Duke of Lafões, a response to those representations from João Francisco António, a heroic epic, an apologia from the Duke of Lafões, narratives, including an account of solemnities associated with the marriage of Joaõ Manuel of Portugal and Juana of Austria and the foundation of the Monastery of the Mónicas ; articles of peace between the ambassador of Portugal and the republic of Holland ; the will of Maria Anna of Austria ; instructions and a treatise on the Jesuits ; a play in verse, the Brincatio poetica ; and an account of a plague in Portugal in 1562. Two title pages on volume 2, the first of which reads: "Collecçaõ de varios papeis que constão do seu indece. Lisboa, anno de 1776."
